Instead of terminating jobs, friendships or marriage on grounds of incompatibility, it is possible to turn these relationships from dying to growing. For more than 25 years, Marita Littauer, with her mother, Florence Littauer, has helped thousands of men and women with their personal and professional relationships. In Wired That Way, Marita brings together in one book a comprehensive overview of the personality types that speaks to anyone who wants to understand and to be understood. Loved this book. First, it assessed my own personality based on a relatively quick test in the back of the book, and I discovered how completely wrong I was about my own personality!
And my husband is the complete opposite of me! I'm enthralled with reading about birth order, and this book was an entirely new perspective that showed there is no 'right' or 'wrong' personality. Due to a friend's recommendation (and borrowing of the book), I read this book, not knowing at all what to expect, if anything. Within the first few chapters, I came to find that the author has a very good grasp on personalities, mine in particular.

Within the first few chapters, I came to find that the author has a very good grasp on personalities, mine in particular. At first, it was unsettling and almost upsetting how well she could peg how I would act in certain scenarios and feel about certain happenings in life. But as I read on, I began to realize just how much research and work the author must have done to understand these intricate personalities so well. Also, the stories she provided from those she loved or knew were enticing, at least, so I kept on reading.
I would have to say that the book held most of its weight to me within the first half of the book. The rest of the book was helpful, but it was so specific to certain perspectives of life that I haven't reached yet that some of it felt irrelevant. That might also be that I'm afraid I will lose the information that I read by the time I actually reach those situations, but I guess then I can refer back to the book. For all of you who are intrigued by the many similarities and differences that we humans contain and how that affects our relationships, I would highly recommend this book, since it caters to many of your interests. But for those who are more relaxed and really would just like life to pan out for themselves and not worry and analyzing each situation, this book might just give you too much to think about and overwhelm the way that you live, so I'd stay away (unless it's something you want).
By the way, I had to refrain strongly from using any specific personalities in this description - just look at what Wired that Way has done to my own vocabulary! I liked this one. It was a little more in-depth than some of the others I've read.
